Getting There: Plan Your Visit

The journey begins in UBON RATCHATHANI, the nearest city with an airport and car rental services. From Ubon, it’s about an 80 km drive east to KHONG CHIAM, the closest town with accommodations and dining options along the scenic Mekong River. While camping is available in the park, Khong Chiam offers added comfort and conveniences for day trips. Best Season to Visit

For an optimal experience, plan your visit between November and February during the cooler, dry season, perfect for hiking and exploring. If your goal is to see the waterfalls at their fullest, aim for the rainy season from June to October.

Must-See Attractions: The Southern Area of Pa Taem National Park

Before undertaking any sightseeing activities in this area, you will need to purchase a NATIONAL PARK ENTRY TICKET. Note: Soi Sawan Waterfall, the 9000 Bore Holes, and Pha Chek, Pha Moei, and Phasok Viewpoints, are in an area a few km north of the National Park Ticket Office.

Mushroom Rocks (Sao Chaliang): As you head to the park headquarters, you’ll encounter these fascinating geological formations. With easy access from the car park, explore the nature trails and marvel at the unique rock structures.

This area is approximately 50 kilometers north of Khong Chiam Township. It includes the following sightseeing attractions:

The Waterfalls:

Sang Chan Falls: Known for its unique feature of water flowing through a rock hole, this waterfall is easily accessible via a nearby road and features a beautiful pool below.
